Shock absorber is a fragile accessory during the use of the car. The work of the shock absorber will directly affect the smoothness of the car and the life of other parts. Therefore, we should make the shock absorber always in good working condition. The following methods can be used to check whether the shock absorber works well.
1. Make the car stop after driving for 10km on the road with poor road conditions, and touch the shock absorber shell with your hand. If it is not hot enough, it means that there is no resistance inside the shock absorber and the shock absorber does not work. At this time, you can add an appropriate lubricant, and then perform the test. If the shell is hot, there is a lack of oil in the shock absorber. You should add enough oil, otherwise the shock absorber is invalid.
2. Press the bumper firmly and release it. If the car has 2 or 3 jumps, the shock absorber is working well.
3. When the car is driving slowly and emergency braking, if the car vibrates violently, it indicates that the shock absorber is defective.
4. Remove the shock absorber to stand it upright, clamp the lower end connection ring to the vise, and pull the damping rod several times. At this time, there should be a stable resistance. The resistance to pull up should be greater than that when pressed down. The resistance, such as unstable or non-resistance, may be due to lack of oil inside the shock absorber or damage to valve parts. Repair or replace parts.
After determining that there is a problem or failure of the shock absorber, you should first check whether the shock absorber is leaking oil or there are signs of old oil leakage.
If there is no oil leakage from the shock absorber, inspect the bushings for damage, desoldering, cracking or falling off. If the above inspection is normal, the shock absorber should be further disassembled to check whether the clearance between the piston and the cylinder is too large, whether the cylinder is strained, whether the valve seal is good, whether the valve disc and valve seat are tightly attached, and If the extension spring of the shock absorber is too soft or broken, repair it by grinding or changing parts according to the conditions of the shock absorber's connection pin, connection rod, connection hole, rubber, and the situation.
In addition, the shock absorber will produce a sound failure in actual use. This is mainly due to the collision of the shock absorber with the leaf spring, the frame or the shaft, the damage or loss of the rubber pad, the deformation of the shock absorber dust cylinder, and the oil. If it is caused by insufficient reasons, the cause should be found out and repaired.
After the shock absorber is inspected and repaired, the performance test should be performed on a special test bench. When the resistance frequency is 100 ± 1mm, the resistance of the extension stroke and compression stroke should meet the requirements, indicating that the shock absorber is basically normal.
