How to properly check tire pressure

Date:Mar 16, 2020

Here’s how to properly check air pressure:

You should check tire air pressure before any road trip and it is important to actually use a tire-pressure gauge on each tire, including the spare. It is best to test the tires when they are not warmed up, meaning before you drive and they are still cold. Check your car manual to find the recommended tire inflation levels. It is important to note this for the future in case you misplace the owner’s manual which I have been known to do and left searching the internet for simple information.

We recommend using a digital pressure gauge such as a Digital Programmable Tire Gauge as they are far more accurate than kicking the tire or the manual gauges at air tire fill up stations.

Here’s how to check your tires for wear:

It is important to check your tires regularly for uneven wear, possible cuts and sidewall bulges. These can be indications of improper tire pressure as well as potentially necessitating replacement.  Alignment issues are often the root cause for uneven wear and can be prevent by having the tire balanced or realigned.
In conclusion, be sure to keep an eye on both your tire pressure and tire condition to help improve your vehicle performance, safety and longevity.
